Purpleheart has to be one of the most beautiful woods. You don’t see a lot of furniture made from it due to the expense. Also, it will fade to a less desirable brown color from sun exposure. I’m hoping the combination of Tung Oil and Shellac will provide good UV protection. The top is a chevron pattern from purpleheart and walnut.
I milled down 5/4 raw purpleheart stock to create the panels. The top was challenging because the size of the walnut/purpleheart panel was large to then try and cut the angles for the pattern. All the more reason why I purchased a new table saw! ;) Do you think it needs drawer hardware? Or just leave it as is?
