These Adirondack chairs (and the table) came from a set of plans from King’s Fine Woodworking. He’s a great woodworker and makes excellent plans and templates. I constructed them from just 2x4 and 2x6 from HD.

All of the parts to the chairs were cut out on the band saw and then shaped with the belt sander.

The overall weight and sturdiness of the chair is what attracted me to his plans. I really like the curves of the back slats.

I used Cabot’s Australian Timber Oil for the finish. We’ll see how it holds up over time against sun and rain. My concern with using pine is softer woods exposed to the elements start to lose their holding power on the screws, and the whole chair gets “loose.” The design also uses bolts in key locations which will keep it held together tighter and stronger than the screws alone.

The design proves to be super comfortable to sit in.
