Bench seats on the right are out!

Everything has to go. Everything. Seats. Seat belts. Metal brackets. Fiberglass. Insulation. Flooring. We will strip it down to the metal frame.

Removing the seats was reasonable but a bit of an effort. Many of the bolts were secured to the metal rails in the floor, which was great. Some went through the floor and were bolted to the underside requiring someone to get underneath the bus and fish around to find the corresponding rusted ass bolt. Thanks Shannon. It’s dirty and dangerous under there so naturally you bring in the big guns, she was a champ till her finger got crushed between the wrench and frame. :( I’m glad I wasn’t under there…

lifting spirits…

It took a number of hours over a couple of days, but all the seats and metal brackets are gone. Our friend Caitlin was a huge help getting the individual seats along the left side out. She’s known for muscle and leaned into the bolts. Not really, her upper body strength can barely lift her spirits…but hey, she was helpful nonetheless. I also removed the metal hand rails mounted to the ceiling and doorways, trim pieces around the flooring and walls and started to consider the wheelchair lift.

That is gonna be a bastard. Super heavy and 10 rusted bolts going through to the underside. Several blocked by the battery compartment. Also gotta figure out how it’s wired into the electrical system and not get shocked. We did find out the manual lever works…
